Jess Hogue Endorsed by Minuteman Project

Immigration Reform and Border Security Key Issue

Biloxi, MS – With 20,000 illegal immigrants in Mississippi costing Mississippi taxpayers $54 million for emergency medical care, education and incarceration, Mississippi House candidate Jess Hogue received the endorsement of the founder of the nation’s largest grassroots organization dedicated to border security and immigration reform. Minuteman Project Founder Jim Gilchrist endorsed Jess Hogue saying that Harrison County voters concerned about illegal immigration have a friend in Jess Hogue.

“In the Mississippi House, Jess Hogue will join Lt. Governor Phil Bryant to stop the coddling of illegal aliens that is burdening Mississippi taxpayers,” Gilchrist pointed out. “Jess Hogue understands that America’s state legislatures need to be a part of the solution to this problem, and she is committed to doing something about it.”

Mississippi’s increase in illegal immigration has contributed significantly to the overcrowding of schools, given rise to difficulty in accommodating the drastically increased school enrollments. The Minuteman Project previously endorsed Phil Bryant for Lt. Governor of Mississippi due to his work to uncover the tax burden on citizens due to illegal immigration.

“When Jim formed the Minuteman Project to do the job our government refused to do, he brought this issue to the forefront,” Jess Hogue said. “Jim built a coalition of men and women who took a stand and made a difference when everyone said they would fail. I am proud to have his support.”

Jim Gilchrist founded the multi-ethnic Minuteman Project on Oct. 1, 2004, after years of frustrated efforts trying to get a neglectful U.S. government to simply enforce existing immigration laws. Called “the world’s largest neighborhood watch”, their volunteer members aid efforts of the US Border Patrol by watching for illegal activity along the US-Mexican border.
