Ground broken on Kemper coal plant
Mississippi Power Company’s $2.4 billion lignite coal gasification plant that officials broke ground on Thursday will not only benefit Kemper County but the region as well, said Neshoba County Board of Supervisors President Obbie Riley.
“It looks like it is going to be a project that is going to make a difference in our local economy, not just in Kemper County but our region.
“I think it will mean a lot to Neshoba County. Just the magnitude of what they are doing over there will spread into several adjoining counties,” Riley said.
