Carlton Reeves elected to federal bench
The U.S. Senate on Sunday confirmed Jackson attorney and former prosecutor Carlton Reeves as a federal district judge for the southern half of Mississippi.
The state’s two Republican U.S. senators, Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, said Reeves was confirmed on a voice vote in Washington.
Reeves said he, his wife and his daughter watched the vote from their home computer.
“I have not yet come up with a word which describes adequately the depth of humility and the breadth of honor that has been bestowed upon me in this process,” Reeves said.
