2011 Political Calendar

January 1: First day in which candidates can formally qualify for elective office.
January 4: Legislative session begins.

March 1: Qualifying deadline for elective office. Note: This is the qualifying deadline IF the census has been received by January 1.

April 3: Legislative session ends.

May 10: Periodic campaign finance reports due.

June 1: Qualifying deadline for elective office IF the census had not been received by January 1.
June 10: Periodic campaign finance report due.

July 3: Deadline for voter registration for those who wish to participate in primary election.
July 8: Periodic campaign finance report due.
July 24: “Forty-Eight Hour Report” due.

August 2: Primary election.
August 14: “Forty-Eight Hour Report” due for candidates in runoff.
August 23: Primary runoff election.

October 9: Deadline for voter registration for those who wish to participate in general election.
October 10: Periodic campaign finance report due.
October 30: “Forty-Eight Hour Report” due.

November 8: General election.

December 8: Deadline for Secretary of State’s office to certify general election results.
