Jacobs said Newton was eligible “academically and athletically.” Chizik said Newton was “a great human being who comes from a great family.”
And then Kenny Rogers went on ESPN Radio in Dallas on Thursday and said that he heard Newton’s father, Cecil, appear to tell two Mississippi State coaches in person last November that “it’s gonna take money” to get Cam Newton to sign with the Bulldogs.
