Mullen: Cancer has spread in Bessemer’s Nick Bell
The cancer has spread in Mississippi State defensive end Nick Bell, a Jess Lanier High School graduate, Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen said today at The Monday Morning Quarterback Club in Birmingham. Bell had a brain tumor discovered in mid-October.
“We found out this weekend it’s metastasized through his body,” Mullen said. “He took a little turn for the worse in the past three days. He’s in a battle right now. He’s struggling, so I’m going to go over and visit him.”
Mullen said he and his wife planned to visit Bell at UAB Hospital after the luncheon. During his speech, Mullen became emotional as he talked about Bell’s condition.
