Arkansas’ Childs out for season with knee injury

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP)—Arkansas leading receiver Greg Childs will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Coach Bobby Petrino said Childs, who leads the No. 17 Razorbacks (6-2, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) with 46 catches for 659 yards and six touchdowns, suffered a patella tendon injury Saturday against Vanderbilt, but didn’t injure any knee ligaments. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound junior will undergo surgery later this week and is expected to need four to six months of recovery time.

“It’s a big loss for us,” Petrino said. “He’s a great football player, tremendous competitor. It’s something that we’ll have to replace with a number of people. You’re not going to replace Greg Childs with just one guy.”
