UK hopes to replicate ’09 finish Saturday at Starkville

The Wildcats (4-4, 1-4 SEC) could get a boost with the return of tailback Derrick Locke, who’s set to return to practice and is “hopeful” to play against the Bulldogs (6-2, 2-2), Phillips said.

UK’s ground game was a key component as it won its final three SEC road games of the 2009 season.

“We ran the football at Georgia, we ran the football at Auburn last year, and we didn’t turn the ball over,” Phillips said Monday at his weekly news conference. ” … I think that’s the reason why we did so well last year on the road is we came out a lot more physical by saying we were going to run the football at you.”
