LSU coach Les Miles having trouble preparing for Auburn’s Cameron Newton
Miles made the following comment at his press conference that was easily misconstrued as criticism of Auburn’s Cameron Newton.
“If we had a guy like Cam Newton, he might be our third quarterback,” Miles said.
Miles meant the comment as a compliment. He was speaking about the difficulty of having someone on his scout team mimic the size and speed of the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Auburn quarterback, who has thrown for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns and run for 860 yards and 12 scores.
The rest of his quote went like this.
“I don’t know who we have to demonstrate the skills that he has. He runs hard. He gives a blow like a fullback. He’s elusive like a tailback, and he has a great touch on the ball. He’s one of a kind.”
