Southeast whispers: Slow starts stall recruiting

Heading into September, Ole Miss was a program enjoying uncharacteristic early success on the recruiting trail. With 19 commitments before the end of August including six four-star prospects, the Rebels were another program heading in the right direction.

Then Jacksonville State happened. An unimpressive win over Tulane followed, leading up to a rare home loss to Vanderbilt and an 0-1 record in the SEC. Despite a week 4 win over Fresno State, the Ole Miss resume is starting to look disturbingly like it could be the worst in the conference.

That slow start hasn’t dampened recruiting though.
