Childers says he’ll hold off Nunnelee
“The stimulus vote was a tough vote because it cost a lot of money. I don’t like seeing debt increasing,” he said. “I supported it because I felt like doing nothing was not an option. It brought billions to the state of Mississippi.
“No one wanted to vote for health-care reform more than I did. I saw that bill slipping away from me,” he said, referring to parts of the bill he could not support.
Childers, a former chancery clerk from Prentiss County, labeled as “hypocritical” Nunnelee’s criticism of his support for the stimulus bill when the money “shored up state budgets. I won’t accept that criticism.”
Nunnelee said he would not have voted for the bill.
