SEC Football by the Numbers: Home-field advantage?

The difference in home and away records in the SEC East is much smaller than in the SEC West. The smallest improvement in home vs. away winning percentage in the SEC West is greater than the largest one in the SEC East. Overall, SEC East teams actually had a losing record at home in intradivision games at 125-129. The SEC West home teams had a combined 154-113-2 record in intradivision games since 1992.
Comparing home and away records in interdivision games indicated a less pronounced home-field factor than in intradivision games. Three teams had better records on the road than at home when playing members of the opposite division, and, in several cases, the home and away records in East vs. West games showed little difference.
