Michigan, Ohio State fans fight to save rivalry

Michigan and Ohio State fans are uniting on Facebook to preserve the rivalry in its current form—the final game of the regular season.

Nearly 2,000 (as of Wednesday morning) had joined a Facebook page called “Don’t Mess with the Ohio State/Michigan Game,” according to a report by the Chicago Tribune.

“That’s a respectful rivalry,” Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said Wednesday during a telephone interview with the Tribune. “It doesn’t surprise me that (the fans) would come together.”

Fans are concerned that the Big Ten’s move to divisions in 2011 to accommodate new member Nebraska and a league championship game might split up the Buckeyes and Wolverines.
