Taylor: Miss. Guard needs more equipment overseas
U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor says Mississippi National Guard troops need more equipment to do their jobs in Afghanistan, including “rollers” that blow up mines.
Taylor and four other members of the House Armed Services Committee visited the remote Forward Operating Base Lightning on Monday in Afghanistan.
Taylor tells The Sun Herald that he met with members of the Lucedale-based 287th Engineer Company, which started a yearlong deployment in March.
