CA – Candidates cagey about sharing goals

Candidates cagey about sharing goals

Take, for example, State Treasurer Tate Reeves, who has been raising money for some sort of race in Mississippi’s 2011 statewide elections.

After delivering a high-energy speech in the Founders Square Pavilion Thursday morning, Republican Reeves played coy when he was asked to name the office he will be seeking next year.

“There’ll be a time and a place to announce what my intentions are for 2011,” he said.

“Today was about talking about the record we have (accumulated) over the last seven years of being a watchdog for the taxpayers.”

Reeves is widely considered a candidate for lieutenant governor.

Other likely candidates in the Republican primary include state Sen. Billy Hewes of Gulfport, the Senate’s speaker pro tempore, and state Auditor Stacey Pickering.

“A lot of people seem to change every day,” Hewes said Thursday afternoon.
