Why we know we’re right: Coach Dan Mullen has MSU trending up as rapidly as any program in the league. In the short term, though, he’s got a defense that will prevent his team from getting routed in the SEC. All league-candidates DE Pernell McPhee and MLB K.J. Wright lead the front seven, and the expected starting secondary combined for 14 interceptions (five for touchdowns) in ’09.
