Heading into the NCAA summer evaluation period that opens Tuesday, the Gators have a commitment from 6-3 guard Brad Beal. He is ranked No. 10 in the 2011 class by Scout.com and is one of the key components of the United States national team that begins competition Friday in the FIBA U-17 World Championships.
Guard Austin Rivers, one of the best players on USA Basketball’s U-18 team and ranked No. 4 by Scout, committed to Florida two years ago but now is considering Duke and North Carolina along with the Gators.
In all, eight of Scout’s top 25 prospects are either committed (Beal) or considering Florida.
