Anti-abortion group backs Childers for MS-01
National Right to Life has endorsed U.S. Rep. Travis Childers’ re-election in Mississippi’s 1st District.
The news came today from Childers’ campaign. Last week, the National Rifle Association endorsed him for his “A-plus” pro-gun voting record.
Childers, a Democrat from Booneville, is running his first re-election campaign. In 2008, he won a special election to serve several months and then that November beat Southaven Mayor Greg Davis in the general election.
Morgan Baldwin, a spokesman for Republican nominee state Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo, reacted to the news by saying, “Senator Nunnelee has been the pro-life leader in Mississippi for 15 years. And when he gets in Congress he will vote to fire Nancy Pelosi, and from a pro-life stance, that is a good thing.”
