College football’s powerhouses should form a league of their own.
Most casual fans know by now that conferences’ TV appeal and related marketability, rather than quaint 20th-century notions such as tradition, geography and even truth-in-labeling, are what matters. Who needs to wait to see the actual kickoff of, say, a Nebraska-Rutgers conference game in the 16-team Southwest Airlines Big Ten.
