Louisiana influence on SEC football

Louisiana influence on SEC football

Thirteen LSU players, who came from Louisiana high schools, are projected to start the season-opener against North Carolina in slightly more than three months. One would expect a majority of the Tigers’ starters to be home-grown.

What may be somewhat surprising is the fact that there will be almost as many Louisiana natives projected to be starters for other teams in the SEC. There may be 12 players from Louisiana starting on other SEC squads.

Another realization is the influence of Frank Wilson as a recruiter in the SEC. There are five projected starters from Louisiana for Ole Miss. All of those players are juniors and seniors, who were recruited while Wilson was on Ed Orgeron’s staff.
