Last week we had the opportunity to attend a focus session designed to allow Ole Miss Alumni to give their views on what the new mascot should be.
Speaking of tradition, the group was told their purpose was to participate in “creating a new tradition” for the old school.
“Creating a new tradition” seems somewhat of an oxymoron, but Colonel Rebel is not the first creature to be thrown under the political-correctness bus.
Judging from their conversation, a considerable number — if not a solid majority of those present, wanted to keep the old Colonel. They were assured that is not going to happen.
The group was treated to an interesting look at school mascots and a quick study in “mascot science.”
