Quarterback Tyrik Rollison’s Auburn career has officially come to an end.
Rollison is no longer with the team and has been granted a release from his scholarship, an athletics department spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

The quarterback wrote on his Facebook page in February that he planned to transfer, with Sam Houston State, a Football Championship Subdivision school, at the top of his list.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik didn’t completely close the door on Rollison a few months ago, saying the redshirt freshman was focusing on academics instead of participating in spring drills. A few weeks ago, however, Chizik said he did not expect Rollison to return.
The 6-foot-4, 194-pound Rollison, a former U.S. Army All-American from Sulphur Springs, Texas, was one of the top recruits in Auburn’s 2009 class. He came close to earning the backup job to Chris Todd last August but instead redshirted.
