CA – Absentee voting in MS-01 scant thus far

Voter interest in the June 1 Republican primary for Mississippi’s 1st District congressional seat is less than overwhelming, if the number of absentee ballots submitted locally so far is any kind of indicator.

In DeSoto County, 33 absentee ballots had been submitted or requested as of Tuesday, according to the office of Circuit Clerk Dale Thompson.

In neighboring Tate County, the number is 10.

Voters who are elderly, disabled or who will be out of their home county on election day have until May 29 to submit absentee ballots, and officials say they expect numbers to pick up as the deadline approaches.
