As rumors heat up, all eyes on Big Ten

This week, Big Ten officials and league athletic directors are meeting in Chicago. But don’t get your hopes up for any expansion news. This isn’t a special confab devoted exclusively to conference growth. Rather, this simply is an annual meeting that was scheduled long before expansion came up.

“This is our normal meetings, the ones we have every year,” Ohio State A.D. Gene Smith told reporters last week. “Jim will probably give us an update on what the consultant has shared, and I don’t even know if the consultant report is done. He’ll give us an update and then move on doing what he’s been doing.”
