Thoughts On The Upcoming Party Switch
As I mentioned yesterday, a House Democrat will change parties on Monday and become the 50th Republican in the House. This will be the third party switch in the House since the November 2007 elections when Republicans won 47 seats. I have just a couple thoughts on this:
1) Who did they vote for to be Speaker? Conventional wisdom would say this Democrat voted for Jeff Smith as Speaker in 2008. Therefore the balance of power between the McCoy caucus and the Republicans/ Smith Democrats will not really been affected.
