Jimbo Fisher, Steve Spurrier agree: Move UF-FSU to season opener
“Is that right?” Fisher said. “Now that you have conference championship games at the end of the season, you don’t want to play your big state rival and then have to turn around and play a conference championship game the very next week. Plus, if Florida State and Florida play at the beginning of the season, the winner kicks of the season in a big way and the loser still has time to overcome the loss in the BCS rankings.
“It makes too much sense to play the game at the beginning of the season,” Fisher added with a laugh, “which is probably why we’ll never do it.”
