“I’d say the SEC is in pretty good shape, looking at the numbers,” Gogue said. “I think the big contract is very favorable to the SEC. That’s a pretty good increase.”
Every 2009 football game controlled by the SEC will be televised, either on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, Fox Sports Net or over-the-air syndication. About 15 to 20 SEC football games were not televised last season.
ESPN now owns the rights for every contest not on CBS, which has the first pick of games. ESPN Regional Television brokered regional cable and over-the-air syndication deals. In addition, each SEC school is allowed to have one pay-per-view game each year.
