Starkville, the scenic backdrop for Mississippi State University, is a quaint town located in the heart of Mississippi’s Golden Triangle. Only by the slimmest of margins many years ago did Starkville become the home of the Bulldogs and able to host what has become one of the SEC’s most unique Spring gatherings. Starkville edged out local cities such as Louisville, Miss., Dunlap’s hometown and ironically home of three of the SEC’s 24 current head basketball coaches (Van Chancellor-LSU Women; Andy Kennedy-Ole Miss men and Matthew Mitchell-Kentucky women).
