Barbour coy on 2012 plans

Gov. Haley Barbour (R-Miss.) is playing his cards close to the vest when it comes to a possible 2012 presidential bid.

Here’s Barbour on Fox and Friends this morning:

DOOCY: A lot of people would like to see you run. Are you interested?

BARBOUR: I’m flattered. But, look…

DOOCY: Are you interested?

BARBOUR: … as I mentioned to you…

DOOCY: Are you interested?

BARBOUR: … I’m the chairman of the Republican Governors.

DOOCY: I know, but are you interested?

BARBOUR: What I’m interested right now is Republicans winning in 2010. These are the elections that matter. And I mean that sincerely, whether it’s 37 governors races, Senate, House, we cannot wait to 2012 to start taking our country back, Steve.

DOOCY: Well, Haley, let’s say that the Republicans have a really good year in 2010, and then would you think, “Well, maybe I’ve got a shot”?

BARBOUR: Then I’ll sit down after this election, see if there is anything to think about.

DOOCY: So you haven’t made up your mind?

BARBOUR: I’ve made up my mind that I’m not going to give it any serious thought till after the November elections. I got — we got to focus on what really matters: this election.
