Bryant: “New State Tax Commission computer system long overdue”
“Today’s move by the Mississippi Senate to issue $17 million of state bonds for the purchase of computer upgrades to the State Tax Commission is long overdue,” said Lt. Governor Phil Bryant. “The additional $18.5 million from the Eli Lilly settlement provides us the money needed to replace an antiquated tax computer system. In the long run, I believe the new system will end-up paying for itself with unreported collections owed to the State.”
