Politicians as News Analysts Raise Questions on Their Goal

Fox News apparently reacted differently to Ms. McGlowan, an 11-year political analyst for the network, who has been preparing a Republican run for the House of Representatives from Mississippi since last September. Her Fox contract ended last Monday, and she formally began her campaign the same day.

Asked whether her candidacy would benefit from her tie to Fox, Ms. McGlowan said, “I think it helps with getting ready to run, and it helps with name ID.”

“But me having been on Fox News is not going to win this candidacy for me,” she added in a telephone interview on Friday.
