GOP Says Voter ID Will Be on 2011 Ballot
Those who support the measure say this will help keep a record of everyone’s vote in Mississippi.
“It should be fair across the board for everybody in the state of Mississippi,” said Republican Sen. Joey Fillingane. “So that once the result is given on election night that we can all have confidence that was a fair and honest election.”
The House first introduced a similar bill during last year’s session, but the Senate turned it down.
“We dealt with that issue. We passed out a voter ID bill that was comprehensive,” said Democrat Rep. Robert Johnson. “It dealt with early voting it dealt with a lot of voting issues. And the senate killed that bill last year.”
