In-state bonanza helps restock Rebs’ roster
Rising up the national rankings all day long, Ole Miss finished with a recruiting class ranked in the top 20 by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
Certainly, that was good news.
But that’s not what UM coach Houston Nutt was excited about on Wednesday afternoon at the Indoor Practice Facility. Instead, he touted his first substantial success recruiting in-state prospects.
“I thought we had our best year in the state of Mississippi since we’ve been here,” Nutt said. “… These guys in-state were solid as a rock. You meet their families and you get excited about the relationship we’ll have with them forever.”
The rhetoric between Ole Miss and rival Mississippi State was noticeably higher this off-season, as second-year MSU coach Dan Mullen made it his stated goal to dominate in-state recruiting.
