Orgeron making push for Copeland

Ed Orgeron isn’t letting his Tennessee ties or the pressing recruiting calendar affect his advances.

The former UT recruiting coordinator, who has the same job at Southern California, contacted those close to Vol commitment J.C. Copeland on Monday night, encouraged the defensive end to postpone signing his letter of intent on Wednesday so he could take an official visit to USC this weekend, according to a source close to Copeland.

Copeland declined, the source said, and the 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end from Troup High School in LaGrange, Ga., is expected to sign with UT today.

Copeland opened himself up when he took an official visit to LSU last weekend after having been committed to UT since May.
