Mississippi coach Nutt rumored to be on short list at Kansas
Mississippi coach Houston Nutt and the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic could be seeing history repeat. In 2007, Nutt guided Arkansas to the Cotton Bowl but left for Ole Miss before the game against Missouri. Now, Nutt and the bowl may be facing a similar situation, with Mississippi scheduled to face Oklahoma State on Jan. 2.
The Kansas City Star reported that Nutt has spoken with Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins about the vacant head coaching position in Lawrence. The newspaper indicated that Nutt’s name is on the short list of replacements for Mark Mangino. If Nutt accepts, he almost certainly won’t be on the sidelines at Cowboys Stadium.
Perkins is also expected talk to Buffalo coach Turner Gill, the former Nebraska and Fort Worth Arlington Heights standout.
