Self-reported, possible NCAA violations involving the LSU football team have no impact on coach Les Miles’ employment, LSU Chancellor Michael Martin said in a prepared statement released Tuesday.
“This situation has absolutely zero impact on the employment contract of coach Les Miles,” Martin said. “He has been highly cooperative in this matter and from the earliest stage has actively participated in the process of resolving this situation.”
On Monday, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva confirmed that the university is investigating “possible violations” involving one assistant football coach and one student athlete, who has not yet played in a game.
An LSU official with knowledge of the investigation and who spoke on condition of anonymity said the coach in question is wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy, who came to Baton Rouge from UCLA in February 2007.
