Forty years ago, against all odds but not a surprise to them, the 1969 Wolverines, led by Bo Schembechler in his first season coaching against his mentor, Woody Hayes, pulled a stunning 24-12 upset of the top-ranked Buckeyes to begin The Ten Year War and restore the Wolverines to national prominence.
