Winning and losing in the SEC

Winning and losing in the SEC
10/18/9

Ask Bama and Florida how they feel after playing two hard-nosed football teams, yesterday.
Survival of the fittest. Always. Saban and Meyer are not worried about style points, they’ll leave
style points too USC (maybe not) and Texas (negative again).

The SEC proved once again why and how you have to grind out games on a weekly basis.
As my good friend and former SEC player, Terry High, tells me every week….”on any given Saturday.”

Call it parity, more athletes, better coaching or TV money trickling down to more teams – there’s just not
that much difference on a week-in, week-out basis. The ultimate grind of the college football season comes
down to defense and running the football.

Remember, Saban and Meyer are Big 10 guys. The difference is…they are “modern day” smash -football
guys. Look at the top-3 programs in the SEC. They’re all run by Big 10 country guys: Saban, Meyer and Miles.
Todd Blackledge framed all of this perfectly on Colin Cowherd’s show (ESPN radio) last week.

More proof that at the end of the day, your team has to block, tackle and run the football to survive the most physical
league in the land. Bear Bryant would be proud, and blown away with the new, innovative and refined look of SEC football
with Big 10 flavor. Too bad the Big 10 can’t figure it out, because thier chosen sons get it.

Yallsports.com gameballs go to:
Purdue head coach, Danny Hope
Rich Brooks – How does he keep grinding out Ws?
Florida – Continuing to grind out Ws in the SEC
Bama – See above.
Ga Tech – Big win for Coach Johnson
Texas – Sloppy, but got it done.
Texas Tech – Leach is special.
Pitt and Wannstedt – Now 6-1, he was all but gone 2 yrs ago.
The Nati and Brian Kelly – Hottest semi-young coach in the country.

What a great weekend in college football! Now….Giants v. Saints!
Are you serious? This is why we talk football year around.
Fire up the grill gentlemen….and grab the brown water – It’s time.
