Bobby Bowden believes retirement still his call

A week full of potential distractions leading into Saturday night’s game against Georgia Tech wasn’t the problem.

The Yellow Jacket’s triple-option offense that piled up 401 rushing yards was the problem.

That’s the most allowed by FSU since Bo Jackson and the Auburn Tigers rushed for 413 in 1985. Quarterback Josh Nesbitt and back Jonathan Dwyer combined for 242 yards rushing in the 49-44 thriller on Saturday night that left FSU 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the ACC.

“That ain’t very hard to figure out,” Bobby Bowden said after the game. “We simply could not stop them.”

The aftermath of the loss found Bowden fretting mostly over the wishbone. Asked how he could keep things from going in a downward spiral, Bowden replied: “Don’t play the wishbone anymore. . . . I’ll give that win to the wishbone. Forty-four points should have won that game.”
