Weekend breakdown of the SEC

LSU barely escaped with a road win against one set of Bulldogs last week. This week, the Tigers go on the road to play another group of Bulldogs – and this group is better than the other one.
LSU held off Mississippi State 30-26 last week, thwarting Mississippi State’s last-minute, first-and-goal situation. The win gave LSU a 2-0 mark in the SEC, but the wins have come against Vanderbilt and Mississippi State, teams expected to finish last in their respective divisions.

This week, LSU will be playing between the hedges in Athens against a Georgia team that has won three in a row – including shootouts over SEC foes South Carolina and Arkansas – since an opening-week loss at Oklahoma State. This should be the first real test for LSU.

“It’s the kind of game that everybody dreams of growing up,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “If a kid wants to play college ball, he watches SEC football and dreams about games like these. We’re excited to be in a game that has the magnitude that this does.”
