UAB takes a huge step with Thursday’s win over Southern Miss

One statistic counted on Thursday night at Legion Field.
Was it total offensive yards? Nope, Southern Miss out-gaining UAB, 345-245, wasn’t the most important number.
Was it the total passing yards by UAB’s Joe Webb? Nope. Webb didn’t have a good day throwing the ball – 6-of-13 for 27 yards with one touchdown – but he did some other things very well.

So what was the biggest number? That one is easy. UAB 30, Southern Miss 17.
Here are some quotes from the head coaches:
Neil Callaway on the UAB defense: “Very proud of the defense, especially our defensive line. I thought we got a lot of pressure. (UAB defensive coordinator) Eric Schumann and the defensive staff do an excellent job.”
