HA – Governor playing ACORN politics?
Gov. Haley Barbour last week put out a notice ordering the state Department of Finance and Administration to determine whether any public funds have gone to the controversial ACORN organization.
But an official with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now said the group has received no money from the state and that Barbour was “playing politics” when he said the state would cut off ACORN funding.
We have to wonder if there is some truth to that.
ACORN has been right-wing bloggers’ and pundits’ top issue in recent weeks, fed by undercover videotapes that caught ACORN staff members giving tax evasion advice to a couple posing as a prostitute and pimp. Congress has voted to eliminate any federal voting for the group.
