College Football Diary: No. 1 Florida 23, Tennessee 13
6:46: Kiffin couldn’t resist leaving the field before telling Tracy Wolfson, “We’ll see them next year.” Nothing like throwing down the gauntlet for a game 12 months away. Next year, of course, the Gators won’t have Tebow at QB. The Vols will also have someone other than Crompton, another senior. Both changes are likely good news for the Vols.
I hate to pile on Crompton, but it was clear that the Vols didn’t trust him to throw down the field. Even while sticking mostly to safe throws, he still tossed two INTs and now has seven on the season. The rest of the Vols actually played No. 1 Florida toe-to-toe. The UT defense lived up to its billing and, in perhaps the biggest surprise, the Vols ran the ball effectively even though UF knew they were coming.
