Southern Mississippi vows not to overlook Virginia
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss hasn’t opened a college football season with three straight wins since 2004 when it dispatched all its September opponents and didn’t suffer a defeat until the third week in October.
After beating Central Florida 26-19 to improve to 2-0 on the year, the Golden Eagles aren’t ready to predict that they’ll challenge the 2004 team’s fast start. In fact, their top priority is correcting mistakes before facing Virginia on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Roberts Stadium.
