OXFORD — Dexter McCluster’s shifty and explosive abilities in the Wild Rebel formation undoubtedly helped Ole Miss to its breakout nine-win season in 2008.
And even after the senior is gone next year, UM coach Houston Nutt is optimistic that McCluster’s highlight-reel plays out of the oddball direct snap formation will lead to more victories for years to come.
Here’s why: For the past nine months, any time he’s talked to a prospective defensive back, wide receiver or running back recruit, he’s pointed to the Wild Rebel formation and said, “That could be you.”
