Perkins hired to mayoral chief of staff

Former local banker Sean Perkins has been named chief of staff for Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., a day after word leaked that he was in line for a City Hall post.

Perkins, a 34-year-old branch manager for Regions Bank, left that post last week. He had been director of constituent services during Johnson’s last term as mayor.

“Sean is a very talented and capable person, and I trust that he will serve this administration and the citizens of Jackson well in this role,” Johnson said in a written statement.

Perkins is no stranger to local politics.
