U.S. Rep. Travis W. Childers, D-Miss., raised $232,728 in the three months ending June 30, and he has $289,006 in cash on hand, according to a report his campaign committee filed with the Federal Election Commission Wednesday.
The filing indicates he spent $71,636 in the second quarter, including $10,500 on a Brandon. Miss., fundraising consulting firm and another $10,500 to a Virginia fundraising consultant.
Also Wednesday, Childers’ Republican opponent in a special election and in the 2008 general election, Mayor Greg Davis of Southaven, said he would not be a candidate in the First Congressional District next year.
