Brumfield – Nunnelee using Obama/Pelosi as ” bogeymen”

State Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo has moved closer to an official decision to run for Congress against Democrat Travis Childers in 2010, a Washington political report said Wednesday.

The Hill reports Nunnelee is among potential GOP candidates for a three-day campaign school, where they will learn about fundraising, the media and campaign finance laws.

The Hill said Nunnelee is in the company of “some of the GOP’s strongest recruits” running in heavily Republican districts lost in the Democratic landslides of 2006 and 2008.

In those districts, some candidates already are talking about using President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., as national bogeymen to demonstrate their policy disagreements, even though many more conservative Democrats such as Childers have voted against controversial legislation.

“With or without Childers’ vote, (Democrats are) passing legislation because of the leadership team that he supported,” Nunnelee told The Hill this week.
