7 on 7 impacts high school football

Hazlehurst High quarterback Gabriel Gray had just thrown another touchdown pass.

It was a Tuesday evening in June, not a Friday night in September. No band blared in the background. No cheerleaders cheered on the sidelines.
Just a handful of spectators were gathered around the six fields located behind Hughes Field in Jackson.
It was just a game of two-hand touch, seven players against seven players – not even real football!
But Gray’s coach, Todd McDaniel, was excited enough that he turned with a smile and gave a high five to one of his assistants.
