Rebels roll into winners’ bracket behind lefty Pomeranz

OXFORD — Drew Pomeranz is not Scott Bittle. But on Friday night at Oxford-University Stadium, it was awfully hard to tell the difference.
Throwing eight dominating innings while striking out 10, Pomeranz led Ole Miss to a 8-1victory over Monmouth in front of an announced crowd of 8,511 in the first round of the Oxford Regional.
“Drew just took control of the game,” UM coach Mike Bianco said. “He was really dominant and kept them at bay. He was as sharp as I’ve seen him all year.”
